Day 3 - Shaking the Shock off

Today was when orientation commenced. Woke up early once again though tad later than yesterday. Still not in the mood to go up to people to make friends. Still very anti-social. Although i did make an effort to talk to the polish neighbours and much less to say, my roommate. Well, i'm kinda apprehensive still, but i really can't go on living with people who do not share a similar frequency with me. It kills me to have to face any particular person who talks about shit that i don't think is funny at all. Argh! It kills me to know that i should even think like this. Real bad, but i am one who CANNOT hold back her emotions. If i do, it still shows cause insincerity shows through. People who know me know that my emotions are written on my face. Back home, it's EASY to stick to people that i like and stay away from those that disgust me. Putting on a facade whenever i meet people that i don't like is still manageable. Even though it's still written all over my face that i-don't-like-you-but-hey!-look-i'm-still-making-an-effort-to-talk-to-you-nicely-with-professionalism. I know myself too well. Should this go on further, time will tell when i say now that a broth of unhappiness is boiling and waiting to be served. It sucks to not be able to just ignore. Sucks that things can only get U-G-L-Y ugly!
Like i said, oh the fucking irony of fate. I HATE YOU! I hate you that you give me people that i love hanging out with only just weeks before i depart for exchange for five fucking long months and now i have to go and say goodbye to all of them. Now that i'm here, you give me all sorts of people that are so not in line with my way of thinking and sense of humour in this cold miserable country!! HATE YOU!

Anyhow, today was the start of orientation. Although i just ranted on in the previous paragraph about not meeting "potential pals", i did not initiate any conversations. 'Cept one maybe. With an italian from sicily. I got my sim card today and the first thing i did was call anna. i love anechka to bits and pieces. Although she is much closer to me now, she is still way too far away from me. I completely absolutely totally definitely clearly surely CANNOT wait to meet you face to face! Anna that cuckoo head was still sleeping during noon. Woke her up and felt bad, felt even worse when that stupid line got cut for no apparent reason that i'm aware of. Hearing her voice was like a touch of heaven. It's amazing how well her english has improved and how she has NO accent at all. It was so american and i could so talk american with her. Unlike here when i'm dyiiiiinnnngg listening to all sorts of weirdly accented eng*ahem*glish. Anyhow, talking about english. I did however met 2 amazing people who speak really really good english. I finally met amazing asta. (: she's really young and sweet and sugar and spice and super everything nice. Plus the other one is a waitress from this indian restaurant that we went to today. yummy curry and naan. nyam nyam garlic naan!! (: the waitress' english was perfecto perfect. It was absolute music to my ears. (:(:(: aikhui and i chilled there till the guided tour around vilnius centre started. Loads of walking and picture taking.

I'm too lazy to write. Moreover, since there are pictures, then let the pictures do the talking. They are mostly baroque anyway. Well, actually, as much as i'm too tired to write one, i just need to mention this funny thing that i noticed. When the guide introduces a certain monument or of sorts, she will tell us about its history for sure. Many of these buildings and monuments were built hundreds of years ago. Anyhow, she would state how each construction was like at certain points in history. I noticed how it is so funny when whenever she mentions something like.. "this (name of construction) was built in (a year dating centuries back) and was a muse for napolean... ...". It sounds all so amazing UNTIL.. .. it didn't occur to me instantly, but eventually.. .. whenever i heard "but when lithuania was under the russian tsarist".. .. WHAT?? what do you expect.. .. "but when lithuania was under the RUSSIAN TSAR.. .. this monument was destroyed.. this monument was closed.. .. this monument was... ..." basically everythingin lithuania when under the tsar had no good ending to it. HEHE. that was the only thing that interested me during the tour. Otherwise, it waspretty boring. well, it is undeniable that the architectures are indeed amazing. (: i was very much amazed.. but having seen prettier styles in churches in russia where the paintings and designs are even more extravagent and exquisite (on telly d:) , all these was really no kick at all. i can't wait to go to russia!!

After the tour, aikhui and i went to look for asta again. (: she indicated to us on the map where we were suppose to go, sadly, it was not what we needed. for good or bad in which only god knows, the staff then kindly pointed 2 other companies that might provide what we need but it only became a futile attempt again as walked on to one of this two companies to only find out that it does not have what we need too. was damn crappy. i honestly was pretty pissed. often, i find myself wishing that i haveth power to just teleport. i am so not a patient person.

I'm so full of bull. Well, at least i'm happy. hehe. This is a good entry. Venting is goooood for me. (: I look forward to blogging more and am so ready to rant on in the next entry. (:

ps: i'm not the only person in this world that does not appreciate bad humour which basically means NOT EVEN FUNNY crap when he/she's tired. Frequency dude. You soooooo gotta tune it right.

  1. OK, I'll make some comments on this as well.

    1) When I arrived to Singapore, first thing I found out was that I cannot bear this awful awful weather. And I'm still not used to it - so glad I have an aircon now...

    2) Second thing I found out was that 12 of my 14 flatmates didn't speak a word in English. Sounds familiar?

    3) When I finally heard people speaking English, I couldn't understand a word except if they were from University. Sounds familiar?

    4) Those who spoke English didn't always want to make friends with me. Sounds familiar?

    5) Well maybe after hearing a bit of our history you know why we have hated Russia for such a long time? Because they were trying to destroy us and everything that is precious for us. Duh.

I actually could have warned you about some of that stuff, but hey, I had to undergo through exactly same shit when I arrived to Singapore... maybe from a different direction. People were not understanding my too complex English, noone was willing to help me, they were sending me through tons of different departments and I still couldn't get help, locals seemed to be very unfriendly, weather was awful (and still is), I wasn't sleeping, studying or communicating. But now I'm fine. So keep up the spirit...

  2. this is your chance to challenge yourself, otherwise you’ll be living “protected” life in Singapore forever.
